West Beach
West Beach is a peaceful part of the world-famous for its unspoiled beach, pristine waves and stunning sunsets. The beach stretches for over 3 km along the coastline of Glenelg (a suburb located in Adelaide). West Beach is Adelaide’s eastern most suburb and is one of the city’s most gorgeous beaches. West Beach offers the perfect place to relax, unwind and rejuvenate. The beach is a favorite with Adelaide locals on weekends, however, the calm, cool waters make it suitable for swimming all year round.
It is a charming coastal town close to Adelaide’s CBD. The beach area stretches over 1km, with the main beach, West Beach, and Little Beach in the north, and South Beach in the south. The beach offers everything from surfing and swimming to kite surfing, and boating, as well as surfing lessons and surf hire. For children, there is a playground, and the sandpit is popular with toddlers and kids.
West Beach has plenty of amenities, with a cafe and restaurant, surf shop, fish and chips shop, chemist, Peel Street Bakery and Cafe, and an ice creamery. There are a number of great places to have a drink, including The Sunshine Hotel, the Beach Hotel, and The Bistro. The West Beach area of Adelaide has many historical and geographic features. The headlands of the Port River, Spencer Gulf and the Fleurieu peninsula are a stark contrast to the urban environment of Adelaide.
