The Gorge Wildlife Park is a conservation park in Adelaide Hills of South Australia. It protects native animals, birds and plants. The park is home to koalas, emus, kangaroos and Tasmanian devils. Gorge Wildlife Park is a wildlife park at Glen Osmond, South Australia, located in the Adelaide Hills. Established in 1969, it has over 900 animals, including more than 130 different species coming from more than 40 countries. The animals, which range from giraffes to koalas, are all either rescued or bred at the park. Some of the animals, like the giraffes, are not native to Australia.

It is situated in the Adelaide Hills at Mount Barker Road, Virginia, approximately 25 kilometers (16 mi) north of Adelaide in South Australia. It is claimed to be the oldest privately owned zoo in Australia and the second-oldest in the world. The park has evolved into a family-orientated adventure park, featuring a wide range of native Australian animals, some of which are rare or endangered.

It is a popular site for school excursions and has become a ‘must see’ for tourists in South Australia. The Gorge Wildlife Park in the Adelaide Hills was formerly known as the Wayville Caves Duck Palace. The smallish attraction was a national attraction, with people travelling from far and wide to see the duck display. It was a favourite place for family outings and school excursions because of the tranquil atmosphere.

When the Duck Palace was established, there was a large number of ducks kept in large outside ponds. As the years went by the ponds were extended and the number of ducks kept there increased. A large number of people were coming to the site to see the ducks and the duck keepers were coming under a lot of stress.

The fauna at Gorge Wildlife Park includes animals from around the world and provides a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the world’s most endangered species. Gorge Wildlife Park is also a rehabilitation centre for injured or orphaned wildlife and is a member of the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council.

Animals of Gorge Wildlife Park is a wildlife park owned by the Hitchcock family. The Gorge Wildlife Park is located in a gorge known as the ‘Gorge Gully’ and is just off the road between Hahndorf and Mt. Torrens. Gorge Gully walking tracks were constructed in the 1930’s for tourists and the park was established in the 1950’s. The park has a large collection of Australian marsupials such as kangaroos and koalas; including many rare and endangered species. There are also a variety of birds and reptiles including free flying cockatoos.

The Gorge Wildlife Park is a 100 acre, open range, natural habitat zoo. Opened in 1958, the park is owned and operated by the Metro Adelaide Regional Council. The park focuses on preserving native Australian wildlife, especially species It is a beautiful piece of the great Aussie outdoors.
